At the Fab Lab 10/01/15
The Three Lakes Model Railroad Club (TLMRC) members also help community members at The Fab Lab Three Lakes. Almost every Tuesday and Thursday evenings a member of the TLMRC is at the Fab Lab in Three Lakes WI. Some members may do 3D printing or Laser cutting plastic or wood parts of models for their home layouts. Others run tests on the equipment to find what may be done in the development of parts for their layouts.
In addition to doing their own modeling TLMRC members help other community members with their projects and assist in giving tours of the lab. Folks visiting the lab will ask about the "Railroad Guys" as they have been told about the TLMRC activities in the lab or have seen newspaper articles about the TLMRC at the Fab Lab.
The above images are of the Fab Lab laser etching on the back of a mirror. If you look closely at the image on the top of this page you can see the ceiling tile reflected in the mirror. Carole, a regular at the lab, was introduced to the Fab Lab by one of the TLMRC members. Tuesday night she asked Paul to adjust this image in order to better etch a mirror. Using Adobe Photoshop to clean up the image and adjust the gray scale was no problem. Paul also adjusted the size to better fit the mirror that Carole brought to the lab.

Below is the design to be etched onto the mirror.
It is flipped for the laser to cut the back of the mirror.
Community service is a natural part of the TLMRC and we are proud to be considered part of the Three Lakes community.
